AHEAD approach

The AHEAD Africa project owes its name to the AHEAD approach –
The Action for a Holistic Electoral Approach for Democracy – a new approach to electoral support that brings together the unique mix of skills and expertise present within the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD).

An innovative approach

AHEAD offers comprehensive and innovative electoral support to tackle the contemporary challenges to electoral integrity and democracy.

This approach goes beyond traditional technical election support, which focuses solely on service delivery, and connects it with longer-term democracy support strategies, leading to more politically informed and sustainable electoral assistance with an enduring perspective.

Follow-up to election recommendations

AHEAD takes recommendations from both international and domestic election observation to make sure that the findings and suggestions from election monitoring reports are a key part of planning for future electoral support programmes.
