Electoral processes in Africa are often marred by irregularities that compromise their legitimacy and integrity. In response, African civil society has demonstrated its commitment and transformative power by promoting the transparency, accountability, reliability, inclusiveness, and peace of these processes through various initiatives.
These initiatives often include innovative solutions to empower voters, strengthen voter education, monitor elections, promote democratic participation, combat dis-/misinformation, build trust in electoral institutions, increase voter turnout, improve access for marginalised groups, ensure digital security, and enhance electoral transparency, among others.
Be the example to follow! From Dakar to Nairobi and from Tunis to Johannesburg, we are looking for over 100 citizen-led electoral initiatives spanning the entire electoral cycle from 2010 onwards that address electoral issues in Africa.*
By registering your initiative, you will not only elevate your work to a continental audience but also become part of a transformative platform that will serve as a valuable resource for identifying best practices in electoral initiatives. What’s best is that by taking just five minutes to register your/an initiative, you will be contributing to help advance democracy across Africa through free, fair, transparent, credible and verifiable electoral processes.
