In many African countries, electoral processes remain vulnerable to disinformation, electoral violence, the exclusion of youth and women, and a lack of transparency. But digital innovation is opening new paths: civic technologies are emerging as powerful tools to reinforce participation, integrity, and transparency in elections.

Through the Election Civic Tech Fund managed by Africtivistes, we aim to fund youth-led digital initiatives that aim to strengthen inclusive electoral participation, transparency, and integrity across 14 African countries: Cameroon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Guinea, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and Togo.

This call is launched within the framework of two projects:

  • Digitalise Youth: strengthening youth participation and influence in democratic processes through digital means.
  • AHEAD Africa: supporting African civil society to improve transparency, integrity, and citizen engagement in electoral processes.

A total fund of €175,000 will be distributed across four thematic priority areas:

To apply for the Election Civic Tech Fund, applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 to 35.
  • Reside in or be nationals of one of the 14 eligible countries.
  • Submit a complete application package, including:
    • Official online application form (via https://electioncivictechfund.africtivistes.com/).
    • Detailed budget proposal (based on the provided template).
    • Project description (max 5 pages) including:
      • Theory of change
      • Implementation plan (max 10 months)
    • CVs of 2 to 3 core team members.
    • Legal registration documents of the organisation or the lead entity in the case of a consortium.
