Windhoek, Namibia
The Namibia Institute for Democracy (NID) is a non-profit dedicated to making democracy work for all Namibians. Guided by a vision of an inclusive and accountable society, NID empowers citizens, civil society, and institutions to actively shape the country’s democratic journey.
For over three decades, NID has been at the forefront of civic and voter education, election monitoring, and human rights initiatives. Its programmes help citizens understand their rights, encourage meaningful participation, and strengthen trust in democratic processes. NID’s strong ties with civil society, policymakers, and electoral actors give it a unique ability to bring diverse voices together and turn ideas into action.
With support from AHEAD Africa, NID will strengthen post-2024 election follow-up in Namibia by combining youth-led advocacy and multi-stakeholder workshops. Students in Windhoek schools will learn about the electoral system, key EOM recommendations, and advocacy skills to track reforms and engage institutions. Insights from these sessions will feed into workshops with policymakers, civil society, media, and political actors to set priorities and co-create a joint electoral agenda.
