KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Founded in 1996 as part of the South African Council of Churches, following the creation of the KwaZulu-Natal province before the April 1994 elections, the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC) is a faith-based non-profit organisation dedicated to developing a united response to the numerous challenges facing the province.
KZNCC, alongside its 300 member churches, works in unity to coordinate, support, and facilitate collaboration on provincial and national issues, including advancing the rights of individuals, promoting justice and peace, fostering reconciliation, championing moral reconstruction, eradicating poverty, and empowering marginalised communities.
With support from AHEAD Africa, KZNCC deploys mobile domestic accredited election observers during South Africa’s 2024 elections, in coordination with local networks and partners. Their presence helps ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability at every step from campaign rallies and the voting process to the final vote count.
2024 elections in SADC tested the seams of what holds, and what’s coming apart.
