Hopeline Foundation

  • Story

Hopeline Foundation is a youth- and women-led Somali NGO founded in 2020 by professionals from both within the country and the diaspora. Born out of the need to respond to long-standing social and governance challenges, it works to strengthen local leadership, rebuild trust, and support community-driven solutions rooted in local realities.

Hopeline works directly with communities through programmes that engage young people and women in civic life. Its initiatives on civic awareness, leadership, and social inclusion help people access information, take part in local discussions, and address everyday challenges in practical ways.

With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects, and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, Hopeline is launching a nine-month civic tech project to boost youth participation. A multilingual platform will provide interactive civic education, electoral information, and incident reporting tools, while 100 trained youth ambassadors — at least 60 % women — will lead outreach in 11 districts, engaging over 20 000 young people to participate confidently and inclusively in democratic processes.
