The Ethiopian Women Federation (EWF), established in 2008, is a national network advancing women’s rights and participation across Ethiopia. By connecting women from all regions, EWF empowers them to engage in civic life, influence decision-making, and help build a more inclusive and democratic society.
Over the past decade, EWF has mobilised women through advocacy, leadership programmes, and community dialogues. It has raised awareness on rights and representation, trained emerging women leaders, and built networks that amplify women’s voices in governance, enabling them to engage confidently in political and social decision-making.
With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects, and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, EWF is equipping young people and women to take an active role in Ethiopia’s 2026 elections. By combining civic education, digital awareness, and leadership training, the initiative helps women aged 18–35, emerging female leaders, and candidates, participate safely, confidently, and effectively—contributing to a more inclusive, informed, and representative democratic process.
