Consortium for Networking and Development

  • Story

The Consortium for Networking and Development (COND) unites 80+ civil society organisations across Ethiopia’s Amhara Region to strengthen human rights, peace, and inclusive development. By connecting communities, youth, and women with decision‑makers, COND helps citizens influence policies, address local challenges, and create tangible improvements in their communities.

COND supports its members with training, coordination, and partnerships, helping them plan projects, engage communities, and tackle challenges such as conflict, service gaps, and limited civic space. Through its network, organisations share knowledge, collaborate, and expand solutions that make a real impact locally.

With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects, and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, COND is helping youth- and women-led CSOs in Amhara use digital tools to bring elections closer to communities ahead of Ethiopia’s 2026 vote. Over ten months, 30+ organisations will provide civic education, observe polling stations, and run awareness campaigns. Combining training, networks of young observers, and a shared database, they will equip communities to stay informed, get involved, and participate with confidence.
