Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) is a not-for-profit bringing young people and communities together to shape the future of Nigeria and Cameroon. For more than ten years, it has grown into a movement where youth and women are not just participants, they are leaders in driving social change, promoting civic engagement, and creating opportunities to give voice to those often left out of decision-making. 

BBYDI equips youth and women with digital skills to engage safely online, track government performance, and spot misinformation. Through programs in digital literacy, civic reporting, and technology advocacy, it has built a generation of tech-savvy citizens shaping their communities, promoting transparency, and strengthening inclusive governance.

With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects, and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, BBYDI launched ‘myaifactchecker.org’, Africa’s first AI-powered multilingual fact-checking platform. Ahead of Cameroon’s October 2025 presidential election, it empowers youth, women, journalists, and citizen reporters to verify information, counter falsehoods, and foster civic literacy, helping communities participate confidently and safely in democracy.
