Mbour, Senegal
Association Wa Mbedmi is a Senegalese civil society organisation mobilising young leaders to strengthen citizenship, democracy, and sustainable development. Founded in 2019, it empowers youth and women to take part in civic life through digital tools and community initiatives that turn participation into tangible impact.
Wa Mbedmi drives active citizenship through both online and on-the-ground programmes. Its Sénégal Vote platform supports transparent and inclusive electoral participation, while the Wa Mbedmi Tech Hub in Mbour equips youth and women with digital skills and fosters innovative projects that strengthen civic engagement and accountability.
With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, Wa Mbedmi is rolling out Toopko — a mobile-friendly digital platform that centralises political promises and enables citizens to track, evaluate, and engage with them, sparking constructive dialogue between citizens and decision-makers.
