Association Wa Mbedmi

  • Story

Association Wa Mbedmi is a Senegalese civil society organisation mobilising young leaders to strengthen citizenship, democracy, and sustainable development. Founded in 2019, it empowers youth and women to take part in civic life through digital tools and community initiatives that turn participation into tangible impact.

Wa Mbedmi drives active citizenship through both online and on-the-ground programmes. Its Sénégal Vote platform supports transparent and inclusive electoral participation, while the Wa Mbedmi Tech Hub in Mbour equips youth and women with digital skills and fosters innovative projects that strengthen civic engagement and accountability.

With support from Africtivistes, through the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, Wa Mbedmi is expanding its existing Senegal Vote platform, which tracks the commitments made by candidates during elections. Building on this work,  Wa Mbedmi is also launching Toopko, a mobile-friendly app that brings political promises together in one accessible space. The app enables citizens to monitor, assess, and engage with these commitments over time.
