Association des Blogueurs du Bénin

  • Story

The Association des Blogueurs (AB) du Bénin brings together bloggers from across Benin—and beyond—to speak with a strong, united voice for the country’s blogosphere. Founded in 2015, it has grown into a dynamic community of over thirty active bloggers promoting digital expression and civic engagement.

The association organises blog camps and digital initiatives that spark dialogue and civic participation, including “Bénin Vote 229,” which supported a peaceful and transparent 2016 presidential election. It also runs a multilingual platform where citizens can report misinformation and access verified electoral information.

With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects, and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, AB-Bénin uses its digital platform and multilingual website to make electoral information clear and accessible. Citizens can report irregularities and flag misinformation, which a dedicated fact-checking team verifies quickly. Supported by a nationwide network of observers and civil society groups, the project strengthens citizen vigilance, encourages peaceful participation, and promotes transparent, inclusive, and credible elections.
