Actions for Development and Empowerment (ADE) is a youth-driven grassroots organisation in Cameroon, empowering young people to shape their communities and hold governments accountable. Since 2019, it has created platforms where youth propose solutions, influence policy, and drive change on issues like education, employment, and civic participation.
ADE brings citizens into civic life through initiatives that make governance more understandable and participatory. Its ‘Follow the Money’ and ‘My Vote, My Voice’ efforts have helped young Cameroonians track public funds and become more aware of their rights and responsibilities.
With support from Africtivistes, as part of the Digitalise Youth and AHEAD Africa projects, and powered by the Digital Democracy Initiative, ADE is bringing elections closer to citizens through the platform ‘VoteCam’, where youth and communities can access election information, report irregularities in real time, and submit data offline. Civic literacy sessions and the ‘Know Your Rep’ podcast give young people, women, journalists, and local leaders the knowledge and confidence to follow the vote, ask questions, and hold authorities accountable.
