A defining chapter lies ahead for Uganda. As 2026 general elections near, Uganda is caught between aspirations to uphold democratic values and the friction that undermines them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recent assessments by Freedom House and Civicus Global Alliance paint a stark picture of repression and eroding rights, reinforcing what many in Uganda already feel on the ground. As civic space shrinks and concerns around political violence and press freedom grow louder, the urgency to secure that elections take place with integrity has never been greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, the Center for Constitutional Governance (CCG), together with the Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF), the Alliance for Finance Monitoring (ACFIM)<\/a>, and with the support of the East and Horn of Africa Election Observers Network (E-HORN)<\/a>, is convening a Country Forum on 3 July, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This gathering will bring together voices from civil society, political parties, the Electoral Commission, media, and beyond to confront the challenges ahead and co-create a roadmap for peaceful, fair, and credible elections in 2026. More than a forum, is a call to collectively safeguard Uganda\u2019s democratic future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
