Many incumbents faced defeat, largely due to economic concerns. In Southern Africa, elections took place in six countries: <strong>South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Madagascar, Mauritius and Botswana<\/strong>. These elections were observed by several election observer missions highlighting key successes and challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To reflect on 2024 elections&#8217; successes and challenges and improve future electoral processes by developing an advocacy strategy for implementing election recommendations, the Electoral Support Network of Southern Africa (ESN-SA) will host a two-day <span class=\"highlight-text\"><strong>Election Academy on 24-25 April in South Africa.<\/strong><\/span> The event will bring together regional bodies, civil society, and development partners to analyze election outcomes, develop an advocacy strategy, and enhance collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With elections in <strong>Malawi, Seychelles, and Tanzania in 2025,<\/strong> the Academy will also help shape preparations for upcoming polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-a89b3969 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-75 has-custom-font-size\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background-color has-primary-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/ahead.africa\/en\/lessons-from-southern-africa-2024-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lessons from Southern Africa 2024 elections from the academy<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8451,"template":"event","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-8057","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/ahead.africa\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event\/8057","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/ahead.africa\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/ahead.africa\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/event"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ahead.africa\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8451"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/ahead.africa\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8057"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
